Article: Baby Boomers Put Vacationing in Palm Springs California High on Our Travel Bucket List
Palm Springs California, with its 350 days of sunny skies and warm temperatures, is a compelling vacation location for Baby Boomers as well as a great place to retire.
Even those who aren't quite ready to retire yet - have found a way to put their pre-retirement real estate purchases to work for them.
The latest Baby Boomer trend for those who plan to retire to Palm Springs in the future, is to buy a home there now and offset the carrying costs by offering it to other Baby Boomers as a Palm Springs Vacation Home Rental Property. After retirement, many Baby Boomers plan to live in their Palm Springs Home most of the year and return to their home town to spend the summers with family and friends.
Chief Economist for the National Association of Realtors Lawrence Yun, reports that vacation sales in 2014 showed astonishing growth, nearly doubling the combined total of the previous two years. Lawrence Yun said “Affluent households have greatly benefited from strong growth in the stock market in recent years, and the steady rise in home prices has likely given them reassurance that real estate remains an attractive long-term investment,”. “Furthermore, last year’s impressive increase also reflects long-term growth in the numbers of Baby Boomers moving closer to retirement and buying second homes with the intention to convert them into their primary home in a few years.”
Joe and Kathy Turner from Seattle invested in this mid-century
Palm Springs Vacation Rental Home named 'Simply Alexander'
Joe and Kathy Turner had been looking to buy a house or condo somewhere sunny and relaxing that would eventually become their winter retirement home. They had been exploring several places in Mexico, and also Belize. When a relative suggested a Retirement Home in Palm Springs, Joe and Kathy decided to check it out.
"I am a Baby Boomer born in 1954 and some of my earliest memories are of the 1962 Seattle World's Fair. The theme was Century 21," said Joe. "If there was ever a world's fair that aligned with mid-century modern ideas, that was it. I remember a building on the fairgrounds with a folded roof line. I don't know if the famous architect Donald Wexler actually designed it, but I do know that Wexler used that design element on at least one of his Palm Springs Houses."
"I had not been to Palm Springs since I was a kid,' explained Joe. 'Kathy had never been there. We took a trip there and immediately realized Palm Springs was the right solution for us."
Palm Springs California is easy to get to, so we're more likely to have friends and family visit. And there are no issues with foreign real estate ownership, trusts, etc.'
Once the couple decided upon a Palm Springs Retirement, their goal was to buy a mid-century home, bring it back to life, and use it themselves a few times a year until they retire. That's exactly what they did. In the meantime, they are sharing the home with traveling Baby Boomers as a Palm Springs Vacation Rental. After retirement, they plan to live in the house 7-8 months a year, returning to Seattle for summers.
The Seattle couple hired local contractors, Green Guys Construction, to completely remodel the mid-century property, restoring it to its original glory but updating it for the way we live today.
Acme House Company was then contracted to manage their property as a
Palm Springs Vacation Rental Home Property.
As a Palm Springs Vacation Rental Home Property it was made available to Baby Boomers and other Travelers as a short-term rental.
Acme House Co. named Joe and Kathy's Property 'Simply Alexander'.

The fact that it was built by the Alexander Building Company will make it even more popular as a Palm Springs Vacation Rental Home. Everything Was Great!
"The house is very nicely done, clean, and comfortable. The pool and yard are by far the best features. Amazing! There were two minor issues that were taken care of immediately once we called the maintenance team. Our reservation experience and arrival experience were both excellent. We would recommend an Acme House Co. stay to our friends. "
